Well, 2021 has certainly been another tough year in terms of world events. That makes charitable giving more important than ever, and this year we’re continuing our Christmas tradition of making several donations on behalf of our staff and clients.
Our first donation is to a local charity here in Oxford, Asylum Welcome. Like many people, we’ve been affected by the tragic stories of so many people having to leave their home countries due to warfare, religious persecution, violence, politics – the list goes on. Asylum Welcome helps asylum seekers, refugees and vulnerable migrants living in Oxford, with a foodbank, educational support, advice on immigration and employment, plus many other services.
Our second donation is to Friends of the Earth, a movement seeking to protect our beautiful but vulnerable planet from dangers such as climate change, mass extinction, plastic and chemical pollution, and fracking. They campaign for real change and have had many successes this year, including increasing tree cover and influencing clean-air policy.
Our final donation is to Crisis. Crisis is the UK national charity for people experiencing homelessness. Their 12 centres across the UK provide advice and practical support to help people rebuild their lives in order to leave homelessness behind for good. They also campaign for changes to end homelessness completely, based on their research into its causes and effects.
This Christmas season is likely to be a little challenging for many, but we wish you a happy and restful break and all the best for a hopeful 2022.
