For the past 15 years now we’ve given charity donations at Christmas on behalf of DataSalon’s staff and clients. It’s not just a token gesture – giving to good causes has always been important to us, and we’re proud to say that over that time DataSalon has now donated over £60,000 to charities both in the UK and overseas.
It’s a tradition we intend to continue. Perhaps it’s more important than ever now that many charities are feeling the squeeze as supporters face rising living costs. We’re currently supporting a range of charities covering health, climate and local causes. All are doing great work.
You can see our own chosen charities below, but of course everyone will have causes which have particular importance to them – whether medical research, animal welfare, climate campaigning, local food banks, or something else.
For many, money may be tight at the moment, but if you’re lucky enough to be comfortable, you might want to consider starting a regular monthly donation to a cause you really care about. It can be very rewarding to support a charity and receive updates on how your donations are helping.
If you’ve ever felt bewildered by the sheer number of charities, and wondered which might be the most effective, then the Effective Altruism website is a great place to start.
And finally, is your company donating any profits to charity? Many companies help to fund crucial local services such as homeless shelters and food banks. Encouraging yours to do something similar could make a huge difference to those who need it most.
