MasterVision: insights for everyone

Although DataSalon’s MasterVision service is often thought of as a sales and marketing tool, it can in fact offer valuable data insights in all areas of publishing. And, since there’s no ‘per seat’ limit in our pricing, it makes sense to open up access as widely as possible.

A tool that can support so many different use cases can easily become overwhelming, but we’ve developed lots of great ways to reduce the complexity for those who only use MasterVision sporadically, or who only need a small set of its powerful functionality.

  • Flexible searching: Simple searching groups the search fields by type, with lots of explanatory notes, search tips and contextual help, while the advanced search allows expert users to search quickly across multiple data sources and formulate complex Boolean searches. It’s even possible to hide fields for different users, so that users see only the fields relevant to them.
  • Search formulation tools: Date pickers, drop-down menus and radio buttons all simplify the creation of a search, while Venn diagrams showing the intersections between search results provide a straightforward way of building up simple searches into more complex ones. And hierarchical searching makes it easy to find individuals related to an institution, or vice versa.
  • Pre-saved items: saved searches, search templates, export templates and dashboards allow users to run searches, download data and view analytics without worrying about the complexities of the underlying parameters and settings.
  • Quick view: A simplified interface enables a personalised home page that takes the user directly to the specific searches, templates and/or dashboards they need.
