For the 16th year we are not sending Christmas cards from DataSalon. We wish all our readers and clients a happy festive season, but prefer to donate money to several charities rather than send colourful paper products!
When we made our first company Christmas donation, we supported one charity. Since then our charitable ambitions have grown, and this year we are donating to eight great causes, both individual charities and charity funds, locally and worldwide. You can see links to all those we support below, but we wanted to highlight two of the causes we are delighted to be supporting this year.
Asylum Welcome
Like many people, we’ve been affected by the tragic stories of so many people having to leave their home countries due to warfare, religious persecution, violence, politics – the list goes on. Asylum Welcome offers information, advice and practical support to asylum seekers, refugees and vulnerable migrants living in Oxfordshire. They help adults, young people and families to feel safe, respected and understood as members of our diverse community. https://www.asylum-welcome.org/
Sightsavers
Sightsavers’ vision is of a world where no one is blind from avoidable causes, and where people with disabilities can participate equally in society. In the past 70 years, Sightsavers has achieved amazing feats. They’ve carried out millions of eye operations, protected communities from disease, and upheld the rights of thousands of people with disabilities. Sightsavers work in over 30 countries, treating eye conditions such as cataracts and tackling debilitating diseases, many of which cause sight loss. To do this, they work with governments and local, national and international partners to carry out eye operations and distribute treatments where they’re needed.
Sightsavers also advocate for the rights of people with visual impairments and other disabilities, and help to improve local health services so they are sustainable.
