As many of you may remember, DataSalon do not send Christmas cards. We wish all our readers and
clients a happy festive season, but prefer to donate money to several charities rather than send
paper greetings!
Charity is important to us and we want to try and make a small difference where we can. This year
we are donating to six great causes, locally and worldwide. You can see links to all those we support
below, but we wanted to highlight in particular two local causes that we are delighted to be supporting.
Oxford Mutual Aid
Oxford Mutual Aid pack and deliver regular and emergency parcels to households across Oxford, containing food, toiletries, and baby supplies. They believe in supporting physical, mental, and emotional health, and offer nutritious and inviting food parcels that match the preferences, health requirements, and
ethical/religious needs of each individual. They also provide baby products, toiletries, Ramadan
packages, and gifts at Christmas.
Mutual Aid is about solidarity, not charity. Oxford Mutual Aid aim to create systems which allow
their community to work better to support itself. Mutual Aid is about working together to help each
other and to lessen the impact of crises such as the pandemic and cuts to local services.
Oxford Head Injury Services
In Oxfordshire alone, 4,000 people are admitted to hospital with a brain injury each year – that’s 11
people every day! Oxford Head Injury Services (OHIS) provide support for brain injury survivors and their families.
OHIS have an Activity and Rehabilitation Centre which offers a range of activities including
physiotherapy, speech and language therapy, arts and music therapy, and more, to enhance
socialisation and promote rehabilitation back into everyday life. They also offer
community support across the whole of Oxfordshire to help those who live in remote areas, cannot access the centre, or simply require further support at home.
In addition, OHIS actively promote awareness of brain injury by offering training to professionals and by running awareness-raising events within schools, colleges, and universities.
